How I write

Somebody asked me how I can come up with my stories, what I do during the writing process and so on. Thus I thought it would be a good idea to explain my methods here.
Firstly I imagine the END of the tale and then work backwards from there to explain in my mind just how my character ends up in that situation. I work out the angles mentally, discarding this or that scenario until the whole flows logically. Then with the goal in mind I start to write, firstly setting up the background, then the characterization and what the hero does in the story.
With a definite aim in mind I take him or her on that journey, sometimes I might meander a little but always I'll bring him/her back onto the main path until the end is reached, once done I look for a good point at which to sign the story off and hey presto, I have a tale!
This is not the end of it however for I now have to go over the tale and this is the point where my first flush of enthusiasm abates. It's great writing it out in the beginning and putting the flesh on the bones of the tale as it were but by the time I've done the third, fourth or even fifth draft so that the whole runs smoothly, I'm getting tired and dare I saw it, bored with the whole thing.
I persevere however since I'm determined to get the thing finished. Once I've finally put an end to it and am heartily sick of the thing I leave it for a while, perhaps a month, maybe more depending on my mood and then read it. If it sounds good and reads well, then I'm happy with it, if it doesn't, it's back to the editing once again.
After all that, then I'll publish and whilst I might think the tale is as good as I can get it I'm sure that there are others out there who might not think so.
This is why I look forward to constructive criticism, this helps me to take a look at the story through another persons eyes and thus make any improvements.
Of course it's great when there is no nit picking and everyone likes the tale, in that case I'm one happy chappy.
The only bugbear I might have is where I see someone posting, "it's crap," at not just my stuff but other people's as well without ever saying WHY they think it's crap. If a person has to say something, please justify it so people like me can better understand where you are coming from. Any bald statements in the negative and sometimes in the positive will be ignored, justifiably so.
